Gregor's Room

Gregor's room, to me was about a man with anxiety, trying to provide for his family and I feel like that stress and anxiety has consumed and morphed him into this dark, distorted creature. The objects and colors I saw around him were more cool and natural colors with it being a closed space with no sign of escape, until the doors are unlocked and opened. It felt impossible to use the wet paper to shape, make everything secure, and stick together. I felt like I could have done better for this project and gave it the justice it deserved and found a better way to keep things together without glue. The best technique I used was for the legs of the stole and the different limbs of Gregor, by taking a single piece of paper and twisting it. It makes a good support and keeps itself together when it's wet.

Figurative Sculptures

These sculptures represent a single topic of ADHD awareness and how others use this said disability for attention. Both figures have different expressions, one happy and one sad and has masks showing the opposite emotions. The only color used for this piece is gray for the base which is to show the neutral
ground between the two figures. A ball and chain was made for the sad figure in order to show the repression of the person with ADHD, wether they repress it them selves or if others force them too. Others have mentioned that this piece looks like it represents weight loss with the hint of the ball and chain and how people suffer with diets and committing with going to the gym everyday.

Pains of Growing up, Inspired by Labyrinth

Pains of growing up shows a dinner setting with a battle between child innocence and maturity. The this dinner setting is seen as creepy and was set up by a maniac, it was suppose to show the fantasies of innocence being challenged by the harsh adult world. Most of this innocence is shown by material objects that a person needs to let go of in order to find the value in family, but as the person does, they face a maze of obstacles to look for that balance of childhood and adulthood. The many layers of this piece was hard to capture when it came to showing every topic being told through the piece and it ended up looking creepier then intended, but after watching the movie that inspired me to make this about 10 times, I can see where the crazy maniac feeling came from.

Touch Response
